A Journey to the Moon
The colors, textures and forms of the landscape in the Hanksville, UT area provide boundless photo opportunities. Like much of Utah, there’s plenty of red rock in a variety of sizes and forms. But the main attraction is the starkly sculpted, eroded landscape of blues, purples and yellows.
Perhaps the primo place to enjoy this landscape is down a long dusty road, past the well-known landmark, Factory Butte, and up to the Moonscape Overlook, two hundred feet or so above a breath taking, other wordly valley! Once my breathing recovered, I took a couple of steps back from the Overlook’s edge and let the view just wash over me. It’s that stunning. I then began to see the smorgasborg of color, texture, shape and form that could make fantastic photos. And turned back to my truck to get my cameras.
