4 x 6: Small Portfolios of Simple Subjects

While traveling to exotic locations or photographing big, dramatic scenes is an exhilarating part of photography, the opportunities for that are inherently limited, which raises the question, what photography can you do when not enjoying those opportunities. My answer to that question is partly to assign myself a study in which I make pictures of a simple subject or concept much closer to home. Usually, the subject is too simple or small for pursuing as a full-on project but are great for a short, fun study that can be made literally anywhere, anytime. These usually start when I notice something that makes me go “Hmmmm…”. Here are four such portfolios with six images each where were made in my bathroom, my living room, my dining room and my neighbors side yard.
